If you hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), this computer-based driver improvement clinic will NOT satisfy a driver improvement clinic requirement. You must satisfactorily complete a clinic that provides classroom instruction.
A Virginia driver improvement course (either online or in-classroom) does NOT fulfill the requirement for the 3 Exam Failures. Driver’s license applicants who fail the knowledge exam or road skills test three times must successfully complete the applicable knowledge or in-vehicle component of a driver education course before they can take the examination a fourth time. Classes taken at a driver improvement clinic do not meet this requirement.
If you enter your date of birth incorrectly at the time of registration, your course completion information will not be posted to your driving record. Therefore, if you are DMV-directed, your clinic requirement will not be satisfied.

You received a written notice from the Virginia DMV to complete a driver improvement course. If you select DMV-ordered, then you must enter a Virginia driver's license number. The Virginia DMV will not allow us to process a DMV-ordered reason for attendance with a non-Virginia driver’s license number and a state of issuance that is NOT Virginia. Your Virginia customer number (driver's license number) can be found on the written notice (bottom left corner) sent to you by the Virginia DMV directing you to complete this course.

A judge/court ordered you to take a driver improvement course to have a ticket dismissed or to comply with a court order. If you select Court-ordered, no changes can be made to the reason for attendance AFTER the certificate of completion has been issued. Please ensure that a court has ordered you to complete this course.

You are taking this course to gain up to 5 Safe Driving Points. This reason for attendance can also be selected if you wish to complete this course prior to your first court date.
